Throw Away Bride
Endlessly rejected,
a woman is dejected
by a cold hearted, selfish husband
who projects on her his own painful past.
He manipulates and blames to transform this social butterfly
into a clipped-winged wallflower.
She becomes a slave to his whims,
a bondservant to his house,
continually held accountable for his insecurity.
The more she tries to please,
the more he demands.
His devastating remarks
rob her joy, a ploy
to erode an already barren heart.
The relationship eventually implodes
to leave her socially bankrupt,
emotionally battered
in a dead house
alone.
The demise ...
his final display of contempt;
a meaningless order of eviction
she promises to take seriously.
With vehemence and vengeance
she escapes to freedom
and bids farewell to bondage.
The throw away bride
has peace at last.
